| Description | Temple Bar TradFest 2014 (Wednesday 22-Sunday 26 January 2014) will be our 9th festival. It is Dublin’s only dedicated festival promoting traditional arts. It is one of the largest music festivals in Ireland attended by over 57,000 people and featuring national and internationally renowned artists in iconic heritage buildings in the city centre. In 2014 we will continue to build on the success of previous festivals including footfall, variety & calibre of talent, media exposure, social inclusion, capacity & international collaborations. In 2014 we intend to offer audiences a range of diverse experiences, free high quality traditional music on the streets, free high quality music in pubs throughout Temple Bar & concerts in some of Dublin's most iconic heritage buildings. Performance venues include St Patrick's Cathedral, St Werburgh's Church, Dublin City Hall, The Ark, Irish Film Institute & The Button Factory. We’re adding 2 new venues in 2014: Meeting House Square & St Michan's Church. There’ll be a full programme of free outdoor & family events including ceili workshops, outdoor stages, street performers, pipe bands, children's club, IMRO showcases & master-classes, festival club, film screening, singers club & outdoor craft market. 'Live at the Hub' will continue on from 2013 showcasing up & coming musical acts to overseas festival buyers. Headline concerts in 2014 include Carlos Nunez; A Celebration of Frankie Kennedy featuring Altan, double bill with Stockon's Wing & Frankie Gavin & De Dannan, singer, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Paul Brady, legendary singer /songwriter Johnny Duhan, the 30th anniversary of the first all-female big-band of traditional music Macalla, the olllam, Eleanor McEvoy, Frances Black, Bellowhead; winner of Best Album 2013 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards & Seth Lakeman; folk-inspired, multi-award winning singer-songwriter. Dublin City Hall will play host to several international collaborations: Dublin’s first Robert Burns Supper hosted by Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Education, Riga: Celebrating European Capital of Culture 2014 in association with the Latvian Foreign Ministry featuring world renowned cello trio Melo M, A Commemoration of the Songs of World War 1 hosted by RTE broadcaster, historian & author Myles Dungan & a night celebrating musical links of Mayo & Manchester with award winning fiddle player Emma Sweeney & world champion Irish dancer James Keegan. Opening night in St Werburgh's Church will be a performance by Young Orchestral Pops, an inner city orchestra this will be a benefit night to raise funds for the Orchestra. New venue St Michan's plays host to newly commissioned suite of music by Lorcan MacMathuna commemorating The Battle of Clontarf with participation from local schools & community groups. | |||

| Description | Re-Presenting Ireland is a showcase initiative of Culture Ireland, Dance Ireland and Dublin Dance Festival. Irish dancers and choreographers in the Re-Presenting Ireland programme: Croi Glann (Choreographer, Liz Roche); Floating World Productions (Choreographer, Rebecca Reilly); Max.IMEALL Dance Company (Choreographer, Rob Heaslip); Dylan Quinn Dance; Iseli-Chiodi Dance; Liv O'Donoghue; Hylak / Schirmer. The artists showcasing work in Representing Ireland will perform in DanceHouse, 17th & 18th and 24th and 25th May and on the Peacock Stage at the Abbey Theatre, 17th and 18th May. Additionally the international delegates have an opportunity to see new work by Irish choreographers: Jean Butler; Fearghus O Conchuir; CoisCeim Dance Company; Aoife McAtamney. | Description | The International Visitors Programme has been initiated by the Irish Museum of Modern Art and Project Arts Centre with the aim of increasing international knowledge and appreciation of Ireland’s visual arts. Initiating first hand encounters between artists in Ireland and international curators is of vital importance to the development and growth of Ireland’s visual arts. IMMA and PAC have come together to combine the networks and curatorial expertise of both organisations. IVP has been introduced to enhance research and mobility for all aspects of visual arts practices, from artists to curators, critics and institutions. It’s a programme which emulates successful international models of practice such as ISCP in New York, Delfina Foundation London, Banff in Canada and Gertrude Contemporary in Australia, albeit on a much streamlined financial base. It is hoped that this formalised collaboration between IMMA and Project will interweave with Culture Ireland’s already outstanding work done on bringing Irish artists to international audiences and the promotion of Irish arts worldwide. | |||
